Ajax motion detectors
MotionProtect is the standard passive infrared detector: 12 metres of range, pet immunity and several years of battery life. It is the default choice for a hallway, living room or landing.
MotionCam adds a camera that sends a series of images on every alarm. You receive the photos in the app within seconds and verify the alarm from your phone. It works with Hub 2 and Hub 2 Plus control panels; the MotionCam PhOD version can also take a photo on demand.
MotionProtect Plus combines infrared with a microwave sensor. The dual technology greatly reduces false alarms in difficult environments: veranda, draughty rooms, rooms exposed to sunlight. CombiProtect combines motion and glass break detection in a single housing.
Opening and glass break detectors
DoorProtect is fitted on a door or window and detects opening by magnetic contact. DoorProtect Plus adds shock and tilt detection: it also reacts to an attempted break-in, even before the opening. On a front door, it is the model to choose. GlassProtect detects glass breaking by microphone.
Outdoor detectors
Outdoor models (MotionProtect Outdoor, MotionCam Outdoor, DualCurtain Outdoor) detect an intrusion before it reaches the building. They combine two infrared sensors and anti-masking analysis to ignore animals, foliage and bad weather.
Technical detection
Beyond intrusion, the range also covers water leaks with LeaksProtect, which reports in the same app as the alarm, with no separate installation.
Where should you place a motion detector?
At about 2.4 metres high, oriented so that an intruder crosses its field rather than walking straight towards it: an infrared sensor detects crosswise movement much better. Avoid: facing a sunlit window, above a radiator, opposite an air-conditioning vent, behind a curtain or a plant.

Will my pet trigger the alarm?
Ajax detectors offer adjustable pet immunity. A medium-sized cat or dog moving at floor level does not trigger the alarm. However, an animal that gets onto high furniture comes closer to the detection field: adjust the placement.
What is the battery life?
Several years on the original batteries for most Jeweller detectors. The charge level is reported in the app, with an alert well before the battery runs out.
How many detectors for a house?
Plan one motion detector per passage area on the ground floor, plus one opening detector on each main entry point. A detached house is properly covered with four to six detectors.
