Dahua NVR

This page contains Dahua network recorders (NVR) only. An NVR receives and records the stream from your IP cameras; it is not a camera. For a hybrid recorder able to take over existing coaxial cabling, see the Dahua XVRs.

Choosing the channel count

One channel = one camera. Leave room for future extensions.

• 4 channels — 2 to 4 cameras, single-family home.
• 8 channels — the most common format in homes and small shops.
• 16 channels — retail, apartment buildings, SMEs.
• 24 and 32 channels — large and multi-building sites.
• 64 channels and above — infrastructure and high density.

PoE, drive bays and storage

NVRs with built-in PoE ports power the cameras directly: one network cable per camera, no separate power supply. The number of bays sets the total capacity: add a surveillance hard drive, built for continuous writing, rather than a desktop drive.
