Description
The Ajax MotionCam is a PIR motion detector fitted with a camera: every time it is triggered, a series of images is sent with the alert.
Compatibility: read before ordering
This model only works with a Hub 2 control panel (Hub 2, Hub 2 4G, Hub 2 Plus) or a more recent control panel that supports photo verification. It is not compatible with the first-generation Hub. Check your model before adding to the basket — if in doubt, send us your control panel's reference.
What photo verification changes
The historical weak point of home alarms is the false alarm: after three triggers for no reason, people end up no longer arming. With the images, you see within three seconds whether it is an animal, a curtain or someone.
A second effect, less visible but decisive: the Royal Decree of 25 April 2007 requires alarm monitoring centres to verify the alarm before passing it on to the emergency services. Without an image, that doubt cannot be removed. This is what distinguishes an alarm taken seriously from one left at the bottom of the pile.
Where to place it
- At about 2.40 m high, oriented perpendicular to the direction of movement — an intruder crossing the beam is detected faster than one walking towards the detector.
- Never facing a window, a radiator or a heat source.
- In the room the intruder must cross: corridor, landing, living room opening onto the entrance.
Variants and add-ons
The MotionCam PhOD adds photo on demand — you can view the room at any time, without waiting for an alarm. For outdoors, see the outdoor detectors. To turn the alert into an intervention, the dispatching centre.
