Ajax LightSwitch: smart switches, horizontal layout

LightSwitch is Ajax's range of smart lighting. It replaces your existing switches and is controlled from the same app as the alarm, allowing you to link lighting to security scenarios: turning on the living room lights when the alarm goes off, simulating presence while you're away, or turning everything off when arming the system.

A three-piece system

A complete LightSwitch always consists of three distinct elements, to be ordered separately:

The relay (Core) — the built-in module that actually switches the circuit. This determines the function: single, double, two-way, or dimmer.
The button — the part you touch, available in eight colors. This also defines the number of visible keys.
The frame — for assembling two to five units side-by-side in the same flush-mounted box.

A single, isolated switch therefore does not need a frame; a row of three does.

Which relay to choose?

Core 1G — one circuit, controlled from a single point. The most common case.
Core 2G — two independent circuits in the same location (e.g., ceiling light + spotlights).
Core 2W — one 2-way circuit.
Core 2G2W — two 2-way circuits.
Core CO — two-way mounting: two switches control the same light point, typically at the top and bottom of a staircase.
Core Dim — dimmer, to adjust intensity.

Buttons: central, lateral, or solo

The button type must match the relay installed underneath.

The solo button occupies the entire face: this is the choice for an isolated switch. The central button and lateral button are used when multiple units are assembled in the same frame — the lateral is placed at the end of a row, the central between two others. A row of three typically consists of one lateral, one central, and one lateral.

Eight colors

White, black, mist grey, graphite, green, olive, ivory, and pearl beige. Buttons are ordered independently of relays: you can change the color later without touching the wiring. White and black cover the vast majority of requests; olive, green, and pearl beige shades are for interiors where the switch needs to blend into joinery or colored plaster.

Horizontal or vertical?

This collection gathers models with a horizontal layout, the standard in Belgium. The vertical range exists for installations where the flush-mounted boxes are aligned in the other direction. The two are not interchangeable: check the orientation of your boxes before ordering.

Installation

LightSwitch is installed in a standard flush-mounted box, replacing an existing switch. The neutral wire is required in the box — this is not always the case in older installations, so check before ordering. The intervention should be done with the power off, and by an electrician if you are not sure about the wiring.

Once installed, each module is added to the Hub using its QR code, just like a detector.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Ajax Hub?
Yes. LightSwitch communicates via Jeweller and requires an Ajax control panel to function and be controlled.

Does the switch work if the Hub fails?
Yes, manual control remains operational. Only remote control is interrupted.

Can any bulb be dimmed?
No. The dimmer requires dimmable light sources. An LED not designed for dimming will flicker or refuse to dim.

How many LightSwitches can a Hub support?
They count as ordinary Jeweller devices: up to 100 on a Hub 2, 200 on a Hub 2 Plus, all categories combined.
